Scholarships

A scholarship is one of the greatest gifts a student, and therefore the University, can receive.

The University of Mary Washington is committed to providing a quality liberal arts education to students of promise at a cost that is within their reach. Scholarships make this goal possible by supporting both academically gifted students of merit and those students with demonstrated financial need.

Currently, UMW has available more than 240 endowed scholarships and awards. Click here to see condensed descriptions of these scholarships established in honor or in memory of Mary Washington alumni, professors, parents, students, and friends.

Please note: The UMW Office of Advancement oversees the establishment of all scholarships. The Office of Financial Aid coordinates the application and selection process for scholarship recipients. Many scholarships have specific criteria and guidelines that must be met before they may be awarded.

Consider establishing a scholarship to personalize your commitment to Mary Washington and to provide support to deserving students. Call the Office of University Advancement at 540/654-1024 for more information about creating a UMW scholarship.
